Ruth Ann Cook Bogar White died Thursday, September 28, surrounded by family members sharing memories of her.

Ruth was born June 14, 1928 in Bartlesville, Okla., the daughter of Samuel W. Cook and Rosa B. Hancock Cook. Her early years were spent in southeastern Okla., around Tahlequah, and then the family moved to Stillwater, Okla. In the mid 1940s Ruth moved to California where she met and married Wayne ‘Pete' Bogar in 1947. They made their home in Sylmar, Calif. They had four children: Leo Wayne, Raymond Gene, Robert (Bobby) Leo, and Lorene.

On June 3, 1961, Ruth married Robert M. (Bob) White in Las Vegas, Nev., and they made their home in Sylmar and Culver City, Calif., until moving to Chadron in 1974 to help Bob's parents, Cecil and Mabel White on the family ranch.

Ruth had a variety of vocational interests. At the end of WWII, she worked in Howard Hughes' airplane plant, then in several electronic plants, including RCA. She later worked for Max Factor Cosmetics and after her children were grown, Ruth graduated from cosmetology school in California. After moving to Nebraska, Ruth owned and operated Ruth's Lakota Café for a year, then chose to enjoy life at a more leisurely pace. Ruth tirelessly worked in her yard and flower beds, cared for her family and friends, raised chickens, and named Bob's calves until her health slowed her down.
